So after Kyrios was done, Othniel and I headed over to Harvest for the lock in! I actually drove for the first time in a couple weeks to Othniel’s house because he needed to pick some stuff up, then Dad drove us to Tim Horton’s to pick up something to drink for the night. We also got a couple drinks for Katie and Tabi. So once we got there, the lock in had already been going on for a couple hours, but we jumped right into what they were doing. We played this game where all the counsellors were different characters and we had to go around the church looking for stuff, it was actually pretty cool and really well put together. There were also a bunch of games, testimony sharing and a little bit of worship before all the programs finished at around 3am. After 3, it was basically all free time. A lot of people went to go play games because the Wii, ps3 and Xbox were all set up. There were also movies playing, but most of us teens just stayed in the youth room just to chill and jam. We were able to share some testimonies and use the instruments. For me, it was actually an amazing experience. If you don’t know, I’m not very good at playing the guitar; like I can play some of my chords but I have problems strumming and I certainly can’t sing while I play, or even sing in general for that matter. But as soon as I picked up the guitar, I was able to play a lot better than I ever did before, and I was just a lot more comfortable. More than that, I was able to actually play and sing, I didn’t care what everyone else was thinking, and I actually played through entire songs while other people were singing around me! This has never happened before!! The Holy Spirit was definitely moving in me, it was amazing! I actually didn’t even realize that until towards the end, one of the girls was telling me how she never sings in front of people but didn’t really care at all when we were playing. It was such a unique and also random experience but it just showed me once again that God is able, and nothing is impossible with Him, because really, I am so not creatively inclined. I can’t sing, I can’t naturally play instruments, I can’t even keep a beat and yet God worked through that with a snap of His fingers. So that was definitely a God moment for me this past weekend; God is good! Hopefully, is He chooses to continue to give me that gift to play, I would also have the opportunity to serve a little bit later on this year in worship, but we’ll see where God leads me. The rest of the night went by really fast as a whole, right up until about 6am, when people really started to get tired. It was also when my stomach really started to hurt because I drank way too much coffee over the course of the night. I literally kept refilling it towards the end, and ended up drinking like 8 cups LOL. It was really bad, I felt like throwing up, but I was too tired to walk over to the bathroom… So I’m never doing that again. Also, in between, I had a chance to talk to some of the counsellors at Harvest as well, and since most of them are still really young, it was pretty encouraging hearing what they had to say and also sharing different parts of my own testimony as well. But yeah, I barely remember the last couple of hours, like sitting trying to stay awake through breakfast while everyone else was eating because of my stomach, and getting up and saying bye to everyone, and walking home. That part was all a blur which still feels kind of weird. The men’s ministry actually came in at like 7am ready to meet, and it was funny because we were all so tired and it was still night for us. But I left a bit after 8 with Othniel, and we walked home, and I ended up getting home at around 8:15, and then went to sleep at 8:30. I didn’t brush my teeth or wear my retainer all night either LOL. The sleep was really bad because my brain was still pretty wired from the coffee, but I was still tired enough to get into a really deep sleep, while waking up every 45 minutes or so.
But anyways, I woke up at around 11:30 because I had to get up to go to my football game, which was at 3 against King City. I had to get to the field at 1, so I needed time to get my stuff ready and eat lunch. I actually woke up feeling really confused and disoriented, like the night was almost a dream, and everyone was a blur in my memory after like 6 o’clock. And it felt like the night was really long, like I was just at Harvest a couple hours ago, but it felt a lot longer after I woke up. But anyways, I got to my first football game, and it was pretty cool, a really different experience. I didn’t play because we were playing the defending champions, and I’ve never played football before hahaha. I was also pretty tired, but I didn’t really show it; I probably looked a lot better than someone who stayed up all night and had 3 hours of sleep! But yeah, we ended up losing, but only got outscored 7-6 in the second half, which was good too! Gonna be a pretty fun season! Hopefully with more practice I’ll have a chance to play more as well.
After that, I went to dinner with my parents, and came home and went to sleep and slept for 12 hours LOL. But yeah, it was such a crazy weekend, glad I was able to get it all down and hopefully when I go back and read it in a couple months or year, I’ll be encouraged! Hands down the busiest weekend in recent memory, but glad God was able to teach me so many different things!
